Network convergence and QoS for future multimedia services in the VISION project

چکیده
Keywords: Network convergence Multimedia services Quality of service The emerging use of real-time 3D-based multimedia applications imposes strict quality of service (QpS) requirements on both access and core networks. These requirements and their impact to provide end-to-end 3D videoconferencing services have been studied within the Spanish-funded VISION project, where different scenarios were implemented showing an agile stereoscopic video call that might be offered to the general public in the near future. In view of the requirements, we designed an integrated access and core converged network architecture which provides the requested QpS to end-to-end IP sessions. Novel functional blocks are proposed to control core optical networks, the function-ality of the standard ones is redefined, and the signaling improved to better meet the requirements of future multimedia services. An experimental test-bed to assess the feasibility of the solution was also deployed. In such test-bed, setup and release of end-to-end sessions meeting specific QpS requirements are shown and the impact of QoS degradation in terms of the user perceived quality degradation is quantified. In addition, scalability results show that the proposed signaling architecture is able to cope with large number of requests introducing almost negligible delay.

Advanced operations research techniques for multi-constraint QoS routing in internet
Internet Traffic has grown exponentially over last few years due to provision of multiple class services through Internet backbone. With the explosive use of Internet, contemporary Internet routers are susceptible to overloads and their services deteriorate drastically and often cause denial of services. In this paper, an analysis is made how forecasting technique, routing algorithm and Genetic...

We are living in a society of information, where the users wish more in getting, supplying, sharing and interacting through information and services anywhere, any time with any device. Then some items should be assured such as: mobility and interactivity, on an environment where the technological convergence takes place and, of course, the End-to-End QoS is assured. One of the biggest challenge...

In this paper, we introduce our mobile QoS testbed “MOBIQ”, which is designed for mobile multimedia services including VoIP (Voice over IP) and audio/video streaming. The key components on this are 1) multiple-reference compression of RTP/UDP/IP headers for efficient media packet delivery on radio links, 2) layer2 combined queueing, which integrates wireless layer2 functionality into an IP-laye...

The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is the evolution of the 3G mobile telecommunications systems towards All-IP environments supporting all the services working today through switched circuits plus new value added multimedia services (VoIP, video call, video streaming, presence, instant messaging, online gaming, etc.). Based on Internet standards and being accessagnostic, IMS is seen as a key ele...

With proportion of multimedia services in the IP satellite network growing, how to provide these services with effective guarantee of Qos metrics such as delay, bandwidth, delay and jitter is an urgent problem. In multisatellite network MLSR algorithm, a typical dynamic routing algorithm, only considers a single delay parameter, is prone to congestion and difficult to meet the QoS requirements ...
